How long will I be in the Recovery Room? PDF Print E-mail

Our adult patients usually stay in the Recovery Room for about one hour. Your time may vary based on the procedure and the type of anesthesia that you received. Patients who receive minimal anesthesia usually leave sooner. Certain patients (for example those undergoing a carotid endarterectomy) may be observed in the recovery room for an extended period of time before they are transferred to their room. Our pediatric patients usually recover faster from their anesthetic and are usually reunited with their parents sooner than the hour timeline.
