What should I bring with me on the day of surgery? PDF Print E-mail

Please bring your insurance information, a list of all the medications you take (whether on a regular basis or just from time to time), any papers given to you by your surgeon’s office, any reports you may have (e.g. EKG, Labs, X-ray reports) and a list of allergies. In addition, please bring any copies of previous medical records including testing results from specialty physician (cardiologist, pulmonologist, etc.) to ensure that unnecessary delays or tests are avoided on the day of surgery. Providing your anesthesiologist with this detailed medical information is very important, since it is on this basis that many anesthetic decisions are made.
