In April of 2014 Fredericksburg Anestheisa was aquired by American Anesthesiology, A diviision of MEDNAX. The structure and fundamental practices model based on care and vigilance remains the same. Our physicians are still comitted to providing oustanding care to our community and we look forward to the continued relationship with you, our patients.

The physicians of American Anesthesioloy of Virginia, (AAofVA)  are a diverse group of men and women with many years of working together as a team. Our ages range from the mid 30s to the early 50s. We average about twelve years of anesthesia experience for each practitioner. All of us have established roots in Virginia and together with our families have become active members of the community in its volunteer, social, religious and political activities.

AAofVA  anesthesiologists are highly trained medical doctors (M.D. or D.O.) whose focus is in the field of anesthesiology. Our physicians have received their training at some of the best medical schools and anesthesia training programs in the country, including the University of Chicago, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, The Medical College of Virginia, The Pennsylvania State University, Loma Linda, Georgetown University, Rice University, Jefferson Medical College, and the University of Massachusetts to name a few. Our doctors have undergone extensive training making them the most qualified to make anesthesia- related perioperative medical decisions. Although most anesthesiologists complete a minimum of eight years of medical training after college, many of our physicians have elected to spend additional time for specialty training in specific areas such as pain management, cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, internal medicine or critical care medicine

Physicians with our Fredericksburg practice are required to be board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiologists. In addition three of our physicians have subspecialty certification in pain management, while five have subspecialty certification in critical care medicine both through the ABA.. One physician is double-boarded in anesthesia and internal medicine. Another physician completed his pediatric anesthesia fellowship prior to arriving to our practice. Many of our staff also spent time in academic medicine before entering private practice, and have published articles and abstracts in their respective fields. AAofVA believes that the best anesthesia care provided to you comes from you being well-informed and confident regarding your anesthesiologist. Our physicians are similarly well-informed regarding the anesthesia we will provide to you. Our goal is to return you to an alert, awake and comfortable state of health so that you can be discharged soon after your procedure.
